Steps: - Grind away a section at the rear to ensure a snug fit against the frame
- Remove the plug/cap at the front by grinding away the spot welds
- Shorten the rod to the desired length (paint the modified sections black again)
- Reinstall the assembly and tighten the rod between the frame and the headset using the tension bolt
